Lancashire-born actor Ricky Whittle first landed in the public eye by dabbling in modeling and professional sports. He was being scouted for the Arsenal and Celtic football clubs before an injury spoiled his chances. He then turned to acting, winning his first major role in 2002, a five-year-run on the TV show DREAM TEAM.
Whittle has continued to play roles on many TV shows such as HOLLYOAKS, MISTRESSES, THE 100, and most notably the new Starz series AMERICAN GODS, for which he was cast as beloved lead character Shadow Moon. Shadow is an ex-con who finds himself entangled in a war between the old gods and new gods of the modern age. Based on the bestselling Neil Gaiman novel of the same name, AMERICAN GODS was officially renewed for a second season in May.
At the Famous Monsters Halloween Convention, Whittle will be joining costars Demore Barnes and Orlando Jones, who play old gods on the Starz show.
